English Thyme
Thymus vulgaris
4-inch pot
A classic culinary herb, English thyme forms a low, woody mound of small, aromatic gray-green leaves that are packed with flavor. Its earthy, slightly minty taste makes it a staple in cooking, especially for seasoning meats, vegetables, soups, and sauces. In early summer, it produces tiny pale pink to lavender flowers that are attractive to pollinators and add a soft ornamental touch.
Highly adaptable and easy to grow, thyme thrives in well-drained soil and sunny locations. It is particularly well suited to rock gardens, herb beds, and containers, where good drainage can be ensured. Once established, it is very drought tolerant and requires minimal care beyond occasional trimming to keep it compact and productive.
