Spanish Stonecrop
Sedum hispanicum4-inch pot
A delicate yet resilient succulent groundcover, Spanish stonecrop forms a soft, feathery carpet of tiny blue-gray to silvery-green foliage that develops attractive pink and lavender tints in bright sun or cool weather. In early summer, clusters of small white to pale pink, star-shaped flowers blanket the foliage, adding another layer of charm to this fine-textured plant. Its airy appearance makes it especially attractive in rock gardens, crevice gardens, troughs, and containers.
Native to southern Europe and western Asia, Spanish stonecrop thrives in full sun and sharply drained soil, where it is exceptionally drought tolerant once established. It spreads gently by self-seeding and short stems, filling gaps without becoming aggressive. Excellent drainage is essential for long-term success, particularly during wet winters.
