A remarkably compact and floriferous Black-Eyed Susan, Little Goldstar forms a tidy mound topped with masses of 2–2½-inch golden-yellow flowers surrounding prominent dark brown cones. Despite its small stature, mature plants can produce an impressive number of blooms, creating a brilliant display from midsummer into early fall. The flowers attract bees and butterflies, while spent seed heads provide food for songbirds.
 
Introduced by Jelitto, Little Goldstar offers the classic look of ‘Goldsturm’ in a much smaller, more densely flowering plant. Its compact habit makes it particularly useful along border edges, in mass plantings, and in containers. It performs best in full sun and average, well-drained soil and develops good drought tolerance once established.
