A distinctive evergreen fern, Hart’s Tongue Fern forms handsome rosettes of glossy, bright green, strap-shaped fronds unlike the finely divided foliage of most ferns. The leathery fronds arch gracefully outward and often develop gently rippled edges, creating a bold, almost tropical texture that looks beautiful alongside hostas and more delicate woodland ferns. Its foliage remains attractive throughout the year.
 
This award-winning fern performs beautifully in cool, shaded locations with humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. Once established, it tolerates somewhat drier shade, although consistent moisture produces the lushest growth. Excellent drainage is particularly important to prevent crown and root problems during wet winters.
