Aralia 'Sun King'
Aralia cordata 'Sun King'
1 gallon pot
Big, bold, golden leaves that will light up any shade garden. (The color will be brighter yellow in part sun, and more chartreuse/lime-green in full shade.) Clusters of white flowers produce decorative purple berries in late summer. Easy, beautiful, and no maintenance required.
Fun facts: Young shoots of this plant are considered a culinary delicacy in Japan (taste resembling that of asparagus) where they are cultivated in underground tunnels. This cultivar was introduced into the U.S. by Barry Yinger who reportedly found it in a department store nursery in Japan.
