A bold and exotic-looking shade perennial, Spotty Dotty mayapple is grown for its dramatic, umbrella-like foliage heavily mottled with dark maroon to chocolate spots over deep green leaves. The large, glossy leaves create a lush, tropical effect and make a striking focal point in shaded garden beds. In spring, unique maroon flowers appear beneath the foliage, followed by ornamental fruit.
 
Considered somewhat uncommon in the nursery trade, this is a collector-worthy plant that commands a higher price due to its distinctive foliage and slower propagation. It thrives in rich, well-drained soil with consistent moisture and protection from direct afternoon sun.
