Sum and Substance Hosta
Hosta ‘Sum and Substance’
1 gallon pot
A bold and iconic large hosta, Sum and Substance is prized for its massive, chartreuse to golden leaves that create a dramatic focal point in the shade garden. The thick, glossy foliage forms an impressive mound, with individual leaves reaching up to 2 feet long. In summer, tall scapes rise above the foliage bearing pale lavender flowers, adding vertical interest.
This variety is known for its vigor and ability to tolerate more sun than many hostas, especially with adequate moisture. It performs best in rich, well-drained soil and benefits from consistent watering to maintain its lush appearance. An excellent choice for anchoring large shade plantings, it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other woodland perennials.
