Whitewater Bear's Breeches
Acanthus 'Whitewater'
A dramatic and architectural perennial, Whitewater bear’s breeches is prized for its bold, deeply lobed foliage splashed with creamy white variegation. The large, glossy leaves create a striking focal point from spring through fall, bringing a tropical, high-impact look to the garden. In summer, tall spikes of soft white to pale lavender flowers rise above the foliage, adding vertical interest and an additional layer of elegance.
This variety performs best in well-drained soil and benefits from a sheltered location, especially in colder areas. It thrives in part sun to part shade, where the foliage color remains crisp and protected from scorch. Once established, it is relatively drought tolerant and forms a strong, long-lived clump that adds structure and presence to borders and larger containers.
