Redwood Sorrel

Oxalis oregana

4-inch pot

A delicate and charming native groundcover, Redwood sorrel forms a lush carpet of soft, clover-like leaves that bring a fresh, woodland feel to shaded gardens. The foliage gently folds in response to light and touch, adding subtle movement and interest. In spring, it produces small, white flowers with faint pink veining that hover just above the foliage, creating a simple, elegant display.

Exceptionally well suited to our region, this native plant thrives in cool, shaded environments with rich, well-drained soil and consistent moisture. It spreads gradually by rhizomes to form a dense, natural groundcover, making it ideal for woodland gardens and underplanting. Best performance comes in protected areas that mimic its natural forest habitat.

  • Grows 4–6 in. tall x 12–24 in. wide (spreading)
