Meeker Raspberry
Rubus idaeus ‘Meeker’
1 gallon pot
A widely grown and highly regarded raspberry variety, Meeker is known for its excellent flavor, deep red color, and reliable yields. The berries are medium to large, soft, and juicy with a classic sweet-tart raspberry taste, making them ideal for fresh eating, preserves, and freezing. It is one of the most commonly grown varieties for both home gardeners and small-scale production.
This is a summer-bearing (floricane) raspberry that produces one main crop in early to mid-summer on second-year canes. It grows vigorously and benefits from support such as a trellis system to keep canes upright and improve air circulation. Best performance in the Puget Sound region comes from planting in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil and consistent moisture. In our climate, good air circulation and well-drained soil are especially important to reduce disease pressure and ensure long-term plant health.
