Star of India Clematis
Clematis ‘Star of India’1 gallon pot
A classic large-flowered clematis with rich violet-purple blooms dramatically accented by a broad reddish-purple to crimson central bar. The showy flowers are produced generously over a long season, creating an impressive display on trellises, fences, arbors, and other supports.
Introduced in England in the 19th century, ‘Star of India’ is a vigorous, reliable cultivar that flowers primarily on new growth. It performs best with its flowering stems in sun or part sun while keeping the root zone cool and shaded. Prune hard in late winter to encourage vigorous new stems and abundant summer flowers.
