Blue and Gold Spiderwort
Tradescantia ‘Blue and Gold’1 gallon pot
A striking spiderwort grown as much for its foliage as its flowers. Bright golden-yellow, narrow leaves form a colorful clump topped with rich violet-blue, three-petaled flowers with contrasting yellow stamens. The combination of electric blue-purple blooms and luminous foliage makes it an excellent accent for borders and mixed perennial plantings.
Also commonly associated with the cultivar name ‘Sweet Kate,’ ‘Blue and Gold’ performs best with consistent moisture and some afternoon shade in warmer locations, which helps keep the golden foliage looking fresh. Cutting the plant back after its first flowering flush rejuvenates tired foliage and can encourage additional blooms.
