Sunset Blue Mountain Hydrangea
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Sunset Blue’1 gallon pot
A richly colored bigleaf hydrangea, Sunset Blue produces large, rounded mophead blooms in deep blue tones when grown in acidic soil, often shifting toward lavender or pink in more neutral conditions. The full flower heads create a bold summer display above lush, dark green foliage, making it an excellent focal plant for borders and containers.
This variety thrives in well-drained soil with consistent moisture and benefits from protection from hot afternoon sun. It performs best in part sun to part shade, where it maintains strong foliage and flower quality. Like many hydrangeas, bloom color can be influenced by soil pH, allowing some flexibility in the garden.
