A massive and unforgettable dinnerplate dahlia, Nick Sr. produces enormous fiery red blooms with dramatically twisted and ruffled petals that reveal warm golden-buff to buttery yellow undersides. The blooms have exceptional movement and depth, creating a glowing two-toned effect that shifts beautifully in changing light and breezes. Introduced in 2009, Nick Sr. is widely admired for its thick stems, upright habit, and exhibition-quality blooms. Most specialty dahlia sources consistently classify it as a giant Informal Decorative with blooms around 10–11 inches across, though a few growers report slightly smaller flowers in certain climates.
