A compact, intensely colored Penstemon producing slender spikes of brilliant electric-blue to blue-violet tubular flowers above narrow green foliage. The vivid blooms are especially striking in sunny borders, rock gardens, and containers and attract hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators.
 
Derived from a California native species, ‘Electric Blue’ thrives in sunny locations with excellent drainage and develops good drought tolerance once established. Its relatively low, bushy habit makes it particularly useful toward the front of perennial borders. Avoid heavy or persistently wet soil, especially during winter.
