Dahlia 'Rosella'
A luminous and elegant dinnerplate dahlia, Rosella produces enormous fully double blooms in glowing shades of lilac-pink to rosy pink. The flowers have beautifully layered petals and a refined formal decorative form that gives the blooms a soft, sculptural appearance. Long sturdy stems and prolific flowering make this variety exceptional for cutting gardens and large floral arrangements.
Originally hybridized by Dutch breeder Cor Geerlings in 1963, Rosella has remained a favorite for its reliable performance and impressive bloom size. Sources vary somewhat on bloom diameter, with some listing blooms closer to 4–6 inches and others consistently describing true dinnerplate-sized flowers up to 10 inches. Most specialty dahlia references support it as a large formal decorative variety in the 6–10 inch range.
