A highly ornamental evergreen shrub, Mountain Fire pieris is prized for its brilliant red new growth that emerges in early spring, gradually maturing to deep green. This dramatic flush of color creates a striking contrast against the glossy foliage and adds strong seasonal interest. At the same time, clusters of small, bell-shaped white flowers hang beneath the branches, adding a delicate, elegant display.
 
This shrub performs best in well-drained, acidic soil with consistent moisture and protection from harsh afternoon sun. It is especially well suited to woodland gardens, foundation plantings, and mixed borders where it can be appreciated for both foliage and flowers. Slow to moderate growing, it benefits from a sheltered location and minimal pruning.
