Tiger Eye Flowering Maple
Abutilon ‘Tiger Eye’1 quart pot
A bold and exotic-looking flowering plant, Tiger Eye abutilon is prized for its striking golden-yellow blooms veined with deep red, creating a dramatic, lantern-like effect. The pendulous flowers hang gracefully from branching stems, adding movement and a tropical feel to containers and sheltered garden spaces. Its unique coloration makes it a standout focal point. Despite its common name of “flowering maple,” it is not actually a maple tree, but a tender, shrubby plant with maple-like leaves.
In our climate, this plant is best treated as an annual, providing a full season of color from late spring through fall. It can be enjoyed for years if brought in each winter. It thrives in well-drained soil and performs best in full sun to part sun, especially in a warm, protected location. Consistent moisture will keep it looking its best, and it responds well to occasional pruning to maintain a compact, bushy shape and encourage continued blooming.
