Black-Eyed Susan 'Toto Gold'
Rudbeckia hirta 'Toto Gold'
4-inch
Compact, with excellent branching, Rudbeckia hirta 'Toto Gold' is a dwarf biennial boasting large, bright golden-yellow flowers, 3 in. across, adorned with a chocolate brown cone. Blooming profusely from early summer to frost, it provides months of eye-catching color. The flowers are produced in such quantities that they almost cover the bushy fresh green foliage. An outstanding cut flower, its seed heads have good winter interest. Remove and discard spent flowers to encourage extended blooming.
While hardy to zone 5, 'Total Gold' is usually grown as an annual for two reasons: the PNW's wet soil often contributes to root rot, and the most profuse blooms are only realized in its first year.
