About the event

This class is designed for gardeners that are looking to expand their horizons beyond the annual vegetable garden. We will cover:

  • What is Permaculture?

  • Integration of permaculture concepts into your backyard design.

  • Creating a plant guild.

  • Understanding forest layers and translating them into your design.

  • Weeds and their role in the ecosystem.

  • Choosing plants with more than one function. Edible plants can be pretty too!

Lecture by Ryan Stueber, the co-owner of 13 Hens Farm with his wife Mary. Together they operate and organic vegetable and flower farm in Enumclaw, WA and are parents to 2 kids, 3 llamas, 10 sheep, 11 goats, 30 ducks and wayyy to many chickens. Ryan also holds a Permaculture Design Certificate through Oregon State University and offers garden coaching and design services.
