Golden Sedge 'Everillo'
Carex oshimensis ‘Everillo’
1 gal. pot
Carex oshimensis 'Everillo' is a Japanese sedge that is a mutation of Carex 'Evergold'. It was discovered in 2006 by Pat Fitzgerald of Fitzgerald Nurseries, Ltd. in Ireland. It is easy to grow and low maintenance, and is not bothered by insects or disease. It is also deer proof.
The plant has long, thin, arching leaf blades that are chartreuse green near the crown, but turn golden yellow when exposed to UV light. It also has short tan inflorescence that appears just above the foliage. It grows to a height of 10–12 inches and has a spread of 28–32 inches. It prefers part sun to part shade (4–6 hours of direct sun).
Carex oshimensis 'Everillo' looks great with other woodland plants such as ferns, hostas, and heucheras, and its brilliant gold foliage also contrasts beautifully with many flowering plants.
